ABOUT EMILY FRANCES OLSON

I started my photography journey in 2012, earning a Bachelor of Science in Photography, where I built a strong foundation in lighting, techniques, and storytelling. Over time, I focused on corporate, portrait, and editorial work, blending technical skills with story-driven imagery. As I worked with diverse clients, my style has evolved into a more versatile approach, allowing me to adapt and tell compelling visual stories across various industries.

I strive to capture intimate moments with an emphasis on storytelling. I enjoy creating authentic content no matter if I am working with a small start-up, large corporation or individual.

Located in Queens, NY.

Q& A

Q: What are you currently Listening to on Spotify?

A: I love The Candid Frame, a weekly interview with a different photographer. FOW obviously has a great podcast too ;)

Q: What is a favorite class, workshop, seminar, book or tool that you love telling others to check out?

A: La Luz and the Lucie Foundation offer really intensive, meaningful workshops.

Q: What is achievement you are particularly proud of?

A: I had a particularly difficult early labor and postpartum period last year, and I was able to work through both the physical and mental pain to create a vulnerable body of work that I am proud of.

Q: Tell us about your work, your passion for photography, and what inspires you to continue to create?

A: My interest in photography began with the desire to connect with people and amplify their stories. Over time, my clients have evolved and varied, yet my focus has always remained the same, to focus on authenticity and to honor the space I am sharing with my subject.

Q: Who do you follow / admire for ideas and inspiration?

A: On Instagram, I love following The Jealous Curator. If I am taking a break from social media, I skim Behance and I always love looking at the portfolios of photographers on The Luupe and FOW. One link seems to always lead to the next. Some of the best inspiration I have found has been on daily neighborhood walks sans phone.

Q: What is one goal you have for yourself in the next year?

A: I would love to continue to develop personal work, while building connections with other creatives.
